Feeling optimistic...

I have been interested in learning how to make my own cloth diapers.  A friend had sent me a pattern, but I wasn't sure how it would all work out.  After some research, I am feeling optimistic about the whole thing.  I am looking forward to starting this trial and hope that it works.  I probably have enough cloth diapers to last, but it would be so fun to make my own and pick out my own cute fabrics.  Just the satisfaction of making something from scratch is enough for me.  I yearn for crafts and things to sew.  I will keep you all updated on how this process goes.  Maybe by this time next week, I will have made my first successful cloth diaper!!

FOOD!!!!

The Baby has been eating cereal for the last 2 months and LOVES it!!!  He gobbles it up.  He was so funny to feed.  Just like most babies, right when you put the spoon full of food in their mouth, they blow raspberries and food sprays all over the place.  Of course, looking back this is funny.  At the time I was still sleep deprived and did NOT find this to be humorous.  The Hubby just laughed at the both of us...covered in cereal.
For the last two weeks, he has been introduced to a variety of vegetables.  I first started him off with prunes.  Poor little guy has always had a hard time pooping and the cereal did not help that situation.  When he took his first bite he said, "MMMMM."  This boy LOVES his prunes!!!!  I slowly started to add some veggies to the mix.  He has enjoyed Sweet Peas, Sweet Potatoes, and had tolerated Green Beans.  Up next, Carrots.  I don't think The Boy enjoyed his Green Beans either.  Maybe if I add some salt. ;)
One of The Baby's favorite snacks are MumMum's (Teething crackers).  These have come so far in the last 3 years since I last used them.  The ones The Boy had were such a mess I hated to give them to him.  MumMum's are rice crackers and just dissolve like Puffs.  The Baby could eat the entire box and still want more.  He really enjoys holding the cracker himself and being able to feed himself.  I think if I let him, he would feed himself his cereal and veggies.  However, I am not ready for that mess.  With The Boy, I had the hardest time letting him feed himself yogurt and drink from his cup.  I hope I am able to get over my need for cleanliness when it comes time for The Baby to figure it out.  Next month, bring on the fruit!!!

Feedin

The Boy had the highlight of his weekend on Saturday.  We went to my cousins house to spend the day and while we were there, the cows needed feeding.  My uncle took us out to help feed...well, the kids helped feed...we just sat in the pickup and took pictures. The Boy and his cousin helped herd the calves to the food.  At first he was a little hesitant, but after about a minute he was running around with the cattle talking to them having a great time!  The Boy was not ready to leave.  He wanted to continue to help.  I had to persuade him back in the pickup by telling him we had two more stops.  When we were about done, The Boy informed me he had to use the potty.  Oh Lord!  So, his uncle took over to the fence post.  This was his first outdoor potty experience.  I think he rather enjoyed it!
To make the day better, it was a PERFECT day!!!  The temperature was perfect and there were hardly any clouds in the sky.  It was such a relaxing day for all of us after a fun night before, my other cousins wedding.  After a day like that, I long to live in the country and have some land.  I don't want a whole lot just enough to have some space and all the beauty.  The Hubby would also enjoy the space.  He is always wanting to live away from everything.  What a great weekend it was.  It was sad to send my dad and brother home yesterday.  The Boy was VERY saddened by this.  All afternoon he moped around repeated how much he missed his Uncle and Grandpa.  Good thing he still had his cousins to play with. :)

Happy 6 Months

My baby turned 6 months today....where of where has the time gone!!!!   These 6 months have FLOWN by.  This week and next we are in Oklahoma and he has grown so much.  The sleepers I packed are quickly getting too small.  His daddy is going to be shocked when we get home at how much he has grown.  Today The Baby also started sitting on his own for a long period of time.  I was able to leave him and do a few things while he sat and played.  Before, he would just roll back or to the side.  This isn't the best picture of him, but it was about all I could get.  He kept moving.  Happy 6 months to my baby!!!

Wedding

The Happy Couple

Tonight, we celebrated my cousin's wedding.  She was such a beautiful bride and the groom look so handsome.  It was so nice to be with, almost, the whole family for such a fun and beautiful location.  They got married out in the country at a ranch.  Standing outside overlooking the lake at sunset was the perfect setting.  It was such a gorgeous day out too.  The day was a little windy, but by the time the wedding began, the wind had died down.  My brother sang, I Have Loved You With An Everlasting Love and did a wonderful job as always.  He always makes me cry every time.

Funny Sunday

This past Sunday, Mother took us out to dinner.  We went to Texas Roadhouse...YUM!!!  I love their ribs!  On our way home, she was playing with The Boy in the back seat.  I believe she was playing with his ear and he was laughing so hard!  After a few minutes, he said, "Leave me alone please.  I'm looking at this tree."  What made me laugh so hard was the fact that he was looking AT A tree.  When The Hubby pulled away from the stop light, he said, "Hey, I was looking at that tree!"  We laughed so much after that.  I believe I started crying.  He was so sweet and polite about the whole thing, but it was so odd.  Boys...you never know what to expect!

Chicken Spaghetti

Tonight we had another delicious meal from The Pioneer Woman Cooks.  We had Chicken Spaghetti.  It was such an easy dish to make.  The only thing I didn't have was green pepper.  I think this dish would have been very good with peas in it and then to finish it off, bread crumbs on top.  Next time, I am going to add that.  Bread crumbs add such a nice finish to baked dishes...especially those with noodles!!
